Easy Valentine!

Here is a quick and easy valentine you can make for everyone! I love the color combo on this card-- Cherry Cobbler, Chocolate chip and pretty in pink! It's so simple to make- I just created the background texture using the houndstooth embossing folder on the chocolate chip cardstock, then I punched out 3 squares with the postage stamp punch. The hearts were cut out with the new fashionable hearts emboslits die. This little bitty die embosses AND cuts at the same time.. makes 5 different tiny hearts with each pass! I have a tip about these little dies... I keep all my extra hearts in a little container... sometimes you might just need one pink one like I used on this card but now I have 4 other pink ones ready the next time I need a heart!

I also used some cherry cobbler bakers twine and stamped the message Happy Valentines Day from the stamp set teeny tiny wishes and punched it out with the word window punch!

I like Coffee.... I like tea...

I've seen these coffee cards around online lately so I knew I had to try to figure out how to make one myself... and I love how it turned out so much I used it as a project for my last stamp-a-stack! Here's the measurements: Outside of cup is 4" x 9", folded in half to be 4.5" tall x 4" wide. After it's folded you cut the two sides in, starting about 1/2" from each side on the bottom and angling out to the top corners. I made a template so I could just re-trace it to make multiples. Glue the two sides shut just alone the edges to make it a pocket. I used the liquid mono multi adhesive that comes in the little green bottle since it makes a nice thin line of glue.

As you can see the inside of the cup slides open to reveal a message, or place to write one. This piece on my card is about 3" wide by 5" tall, and again I angled the sides in .. about a half inch from each side. To make the top, I used two pieces of cardstock that were white. The first one is 1" tall x 4 1/4" wide. I rounded the top two corners to look like a coffee lid. Then I added another one, glued right along the bottom of the first that is 1/2" tall by 4 1/4" wide... just to give it that coffee lid look.. it's a little hard to see in the photo because it's white!

To make the wrap, I used a piece of soft suede cardstock that was 2" tall by 4" wide and put it through the paper crimper. I added a piece of polka-dotted ribbon in cherry cobbler to accent it with some color. Then I stamped a cup from the set Tea Shoppe that is in the current occasions mini catalog! added How perfect does it work? So cute!

Here is a fun card using the new Tea Shoppe stamp set and the new framelits dies from the occasions mini catalog. These dies are cool for two reasons, they nest together making it easy to layer the shapes and they easily line up so you can see where you are cutting. For this card I stamped the big tea cup using concord crush and wisteria wonder inks. If you are attending. My stamp a stack this week this is one of the four cards you will be making!

Cup of Thanks

Have you had a chance to check out the occasions mini catalog yet? If you haven't then you definitely should -- there is a ton of fun new stuff! One of my favorite new sets is Tea Shoppe which I used to create this fun thank you card. I love how cute and simple the tea cups are! I simply colored them with markers in 3 fun colors! I used lucky limeade, pacific point and pool party. I also used the perfect polka dots embossing folder to create the background and the new edge kits to make the fun scalloped edge. Happiest Birthday Card

Here is a card that I made using the new framelits dies... They will cut thought two layers of card stock so if you line them up carefully you can fold your paper first and use it to make a shaped card! How cool is that?

I used the new edgeslit embossing folder to make the stripe of embossed hearts. The image is from the apothecary art stamp set which matches perfectly with the framelits labels.

This card also has a sneak peek of the ribbon and brad pack you can get during sale-a-bastion, starting January 24.

Playing with my new stuff!

I finally got a chance to play with some of my new stuff from the occasions mini catalog. If you haven't had a chance to look at this mini yet you are in for a treat. There are tons of cool new things for the big shot along with all the awesome stamp sets and accessories. For this card I used the new framelits labels big shot die set and the coordinating stamp set apothecary art. I stamped the image on white cardstock and then lined it up with the die and passed it through the big shot to cut it out. The cool thing about the framelits dies is that they are just a fame which makes it easy to see exactly where you are cutting. I colored the flowers in using blender pens. I also cut a slightly larger shape out of pool party cardstock to frame it.

The other new product I used on this card is the edge lit die to create the cool edge on the white cardstock. I used both the edgelit cutting die and the coordinating embossing folder to get this effect.

The paper and ribbon are sneak peeks from the sale-a-bastion mini that will be available starting Jan. 24th.

All my Wreaths...

I just realized I never shared pictures of all the wreaths that I made for Christmas gifts! I love how these turned out and I made them using several different color combos. Each wreath was made by making a bunch of "lollies" using the simply scored tool. Then I created designs to go in the middles, stamping and punching out scallop circles and circles and using buttons on some. Then they are all attached to a flat wooden circle using a hot glue gun.

Here is the first one.. For this one I used the Christmas lodge paper from the holiday mini catalog. I used the stamp set Pines and Pointsettias for the images.

The next one is a bit brighter color palette. I used the holly berry bouquet paper from the holiday mini catalog and coordinated the colors with it.

I also made a couple of "fall" ones.. These are nice because they can stay up longer than the Christmas ones. These both used the stamp set Day of Gratitude.

The last one I kept for myself... Of course I need one for my house too!

Here are the recipients opening their wreaths.. I think they loved them!

Snowmen thank yous!

Happy New Year! Hope everyone is having a great year so far! Today I'm sharing a couple more thank you cards, these ones are made with the set Merry Winter! I love the cute little snowmen in this set. The first card, above, also shows another sneak peek of the Framelits labels! These are a great new die set for the big shot that will be available in just a couple of days! I also added on a new little button from the mini catalog! Here's a close up so you can see:

This next card also uses the snowmen but is a little simpler, I stamped them each in a different color (lucky limeade, baja breeze and marina mist) and punched them out with the postage stamp punch. Can you spot the new bakers twine on this card? I'm so excited that the new occasions mini has this in 5 new colors!!

Beautiful Season Thank Yous!

Happy New Years Eve! I hope everyone has had a good year and has some fun plans tonight. I spent some time yesterday making thank yous for some holiday gifts so I thought I would share those today! I like using the Christmas sets to make thank you cards after the holidays - I feel like it gives me another reason to use them! For these two cards I used the stamp set Beautiful Season. I love the bird image on this card but didn't use it for my Christmas cards because it would have taken way too long to color them all! For this first card I stamped the main image with black ink on white cardstock and then colored it in with chalks and q-tips. I sponged the edges of the cardstock with some soft suede ink to give it a more "aged" look. If you look closely you can see a sneak peek of on the of the new ribbons that will be in the occasions mini that starts on Jan. 3. This is the new "pleated satin ribbon" in riding hood red!

The next card also has a "sneak peek" of new product-- I used the new Framelits dies (Labels). These dies are really awesome- you get 6 dies of the same shape that nest so it's easy to create cool layers that frame each other like I did here:

For this card I stamped the bird on crumb cake cardstock and colored him in with chalks and q-tips. I like how the white belly pops off the colored cardstock. Then I finished it off with some bakers twine and the sentiment "thanks so much" from the tiny tags set (punched out with the jewelry tag punch)

Holiday Recap!

With the busy holiday goings-on last week I didn't get a chance to post the remainder of my holiday stuff so here is a re-cap of what I made! I quickly put together a bunch of tags using the two tags big shot die and scrap papers and punches! They turned out really cute!

On these I used the Northern Frost Sizzlit strip die to make the Snowflakes:

Every year my husband and I make Jam for gifts too. I dressed up the jars using some patterned paper from the Frostwood Lodge paper pack. I love the plaids!

Then he snuggles in and hugs me like a teddy bear! I swear he's not really a cat!

Time for gift bags!

Can you believe it's less than two weeks 'til Christmas? I've been busy shopping, creating, and making my holiday cards so I haven't had much time to post lately. Here is something I thought would be fun to share. I made this gift bag last week for a little handmade gift for some friends and I love how it turned out. I started with a plain craft gift bag (I buy these occasionally when I have a coupon or they are on sale at a craft store so I always have a few on hand). Then I stamped the tree on it from the Christmas Lodge stamp set and Seasons Greetings from the Many Merry Messages stamp set. I decorated the bottom with some paper from the Frostwood Lodge Designer paper (LOVE the plaids in this paper) and a piece of chocolate chip punched out with the Lace Ribbon Border punch!

Then I used the Two Tags big shot die to cut out a cute tag, embellished it with some more paper and the pinecones from the Pines and Pointsettias stamp set. Didn't it turn out pretty?

Anti-Bacterial Holders

Here are some cute little anti-bacterial holders I made! I made these for the craft fair so I was using up some of my holiday paper leftovers from previous catalogs. This cute paper is from last year but I still love it! Then I used the snowflake from serene snowflakes and the little message Merry is from the Tiny Tags set.

This one uses the Merry Christmas sentiment from the Teeny Tiny wishes set punched out with the word window and the Modern Label punch.

Here's what they look like open. I stamped on the insides and added some patternered paper across the bottom. They close with a little piece of velcro.

Fall Sympathy Card

Sympathy cards are always hard to make - partly because it's just sad to have to send one. For this card I wanted to create a pretty fall card to say I cared! I used the branches from stamp set Autumn Days to create a fall wreath using more mustard, soft suede and cajun craze inks. I added on a little bow using 1/8" Taffeta ribbon in pumpkin pie. I created a textured background for the card using the Square Lattice Embossing folder in the big shot. Then the rest of the card is made using punches. the Lace Ribbon Border punch for the bottom and then two sizes of oval and the scallop oval to create the sentiment.

Doctor Who Birthday Card

My husband is a big Doctor Who fan (well.. so am I to be honest) so I wanted to make him a special card for his birthday this year. I've been into punch art more this year and thought... hey, it wouldn't be that hard to create a TARDIS! So I made him this TARDIS card using stampin up paper and punches. The card is Not Quite Navy Cardstock and I scored it to the size of a regular card so that it would fit inside a normal sized medim envelope. Then I used square punches to create the doors, sponging the edges with not quite navy ink to make them look more dimensional and aged. The hardest part was figuring out how to close the doors. I dug through my stash and found these little hardware toggles which did the job nicely.

on the inside I put a piece of white to write on and added the Happy Birthday message from the hostess set Happiest Birthday Wishes!

I think he was quite surprised by the card and loved it! It also helped that it came with the newest season of Doctor Who on DVD, which came out just a day before his birthday! Perfect! Now I get to watch it with him!

Clothespin Magnets

Now that the craft fair is over I have some more fun items to share with you... I was too busy creating to post much while I was making these! The Clothespin magnets turned out so awesome! They do take a little time to make but the effort was worth it I think. To make these I picked out some of my favorite designer papers and glued them onto both sides of the clothespins and then sanded the edges and used modge podge to seal them. When choosing clothespins for this make sure they don't have cracks or rough edges, there were some in the pack that weren't as nice as others.

Then I let them dry overnight and embellished the next day. I made some with flowers:

And a few with owls punched out using the owl punch:

And a few with roses (this is NOT a die from SU...naughty, I know but I do a have a few other sizzix dies!)

Here is what the back looks like. These size of these little magnets works perfect and they're nice and strong!

Here is how they looked all packed up in cello bags with headers for the craft show!

Tealight Snowflake Candle Holder!

Here is another project you will be able to make if you sign up for my Holiday Gift Class! RSVPs are due by the end of the Day on Monday, Nov 21, so make sure to contact me if you'd like to attend! This snowflake holder is cut out of thin metal using the Big shot! How cool is that? I also embossed it to add the dots! You will also get to learn how to stamp the tea light candle. This is easier than you think and adds a lot of fun to the gift. The design does stay as you burn the candle, it sinks down. I tested one to make sure it would burn ok!

Stretchy Flower Bookmark

Isn't this the coolest thing? As a Stampin' Up Demonstrator we get a cool magazine each month with ideas in it, which is where I first saw a bookmark like this. I knew I had to try it and decided it would be one of the projects for my Christmas class this year! If you'd like to learn how to make this, you have until Monday to sign up for my Christmas class! I made this one using the Holly Berry Bouquet fabric and buttons but you can also use the Spice Cake fabric if you like that better.

This bookmark can be made to fit a variety of book sizes so you can customize it--wouldn't it be great to give with a book as a gift? It has some stretch in it so you can stretch it around to mark your page! I know all the book-lovers in my life would love one of these!

Gift Card Holder from Envelope

Are you giving any gift cards for the holidays? If you are here is a simple and easy way to make them look super cute!

I used a medium sized envelope from Stampin' Up and folded it in half. (If you use the simply scored tool then you will score one line before the 3" mark.) Then you cut off the top right flap as shown here:

I sealed down the left hand flap and covered that side of the envelope with a piece of patterned paper that was 2 7/8" wide by 4 3/8" tall. Now on the Right side you have a neat little pocket to put your card in.
To make my card a little easier to pull out I attached it to a tag cut out using the Two Tags big shot die with a bow on the top! Ribbon around the whole thing makes it easy to tie shut and then decorate the front as you like! What a fun presentation for any gift card!

I know you probably need to order some envelopes now, right? Just contact me and I can order some for you.. this size is hard to find in the stores and Stampin' Ups are nicely priced (only $6.50 for 40) Plus, they are made from the same high-quality paper as their cardstocks!

Craft Fair Recap!

Sorry I haven't posted in a while... once I post today you will see why - I've been super busy creating goodies for the craft fair I participated in last weekend! I didn't get the best photos since I forgot to charge my camera and had to snap a few quick ones before the battery died but you can get an idea of what I had there.

Here's an over pic of the booth. A friend of mine gave me this big black display board-- it worked perfect to display my wreaths and magnetic memo boards:

In the middle I hung a piece of metal to display my domino magnets and some clothespin magnets too:

Bleached Snowflakes

Can you tell I was having fun playing with the Bleach Technique? Here are a couple more holiday cards using it. I love how it looks different on different colors of card stock. For this card I stamped the snowflakes fro the Serene Snowflakes stamp set with bleach on Night of Navy Card stock. The show up almost a crumb cake color! How cool is that?

To make the rest of the card I used a crumb cake card base and attached some snowflakes cut out with the big shot (Northern Frost Decorative Strip die) and added them onto the card. I also added on a bitty clear button for some added detail. Along the bottom of the image is a strip of bashful blue paper punched out using the Lace Ribbon Border punch. The Sentiment is from the set Sincere Salutations and was punched out with the large oval punch.

Here's another variation using another piece of the Night of Navy Card stock with bleached snowflakes. This time I used a white card stock base and layered a piece of soft suede card stock embossed with the Framed Tulips embossing folder over it. This made a perfect frame for my snowflake piece. I added on some ribbon and the sentiment from the Many Merry Wishes stamp set. and all done! A beautiful simple card.

Bleached Christmas Tree!

Another card using bleach. This time I used bleach to ink up the big tree from the Christmas Lodge stamp set. I stamped it on always artichoke paper that had been cut out into the top Note shape using the Big Shot.

For the card base I used Crumb Cake Card stock and stamped the big woodgrain background stamp on it. Then I added a strip of early espresso paper and some of the Frostwood Lodge Designer paper -- I LOVE the plaids in this paper pack!

To add a finishing touch I stamped the Sentiment Merry Christmas from the season of Joy Stamp Set and added it on, framing it with a scalloped oval.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Yesterday in preparing for Halloween I tried out my new Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps! I've been dying to try these out since they arrived last week and I just love how they turned out. I made the Sugar cookie recipe that came in the box with them and I added in some food coloring (red and yellow until I got a nice orange color)

Here's how my dough looked:

Then I rolled it into about 1.5" balls and put them on a cookie sheet. I pressed them with the pumpkin stamp-- I found it worked best to dust it in a little flour first so that it didn't stick.

And here are the little guys, fresh out of the oven drying on my little cooling rack:

And they are yummy too! Can't wait to share these with my friends tonight! The cookie stamps come with a snowflake and heart too so I will definitely be making more for the upcoming holidays!

Here is another card using the Bleach Technique I mentioned in the last post. For this card I also stamped the owl in the tree from the House of Haunts Stamp set using bleach on soft suede card stock. Then I framed the image with basic black card stock.

To make the rest of the card I used a concord crush card stock as the base color. The textured piece was created by embossing a strip of crumb cake card stock using the lattice embossing folder and then sponging over it with Chocolate chip ink. Then I accented it with a piece of ruffled ribbon in lucky limeade. I love the lime and grape combo-- it makes the card really pop. Last I added on the happy Halloween, punched out of so saffron card stock with the Decorative Label punch.

Bleached Owl Card

One of the Techniques we did last week in my technique class was bleach stamping. We didn't make this card, we made a holiday one I will show you later but I wanted to show you the card I made using the same technique. The cool thing about bleach stamping is that every color of card stock is effected a little differently. For this card I stamped the owl in the tree from the House of Haunts Stamp set using bleach on soft suede card stock. On this color after the bleach dries then the stamped image has a sort of yellowish hue. I think it looks very cool for Halloween or a fall birthday!

To make the rest of the card I used the woodgrain background stamp on Crumb Cake card stock for the base. The main image is punched out with the 2 1/2" circle punch-- I just love this GIANT circle punch. Then I framed it with a scallop circle cut out using the Perfect Pennants Big Shot die.

Faux metal spider

Remember the Faux Metal technique I showed yesterday? Here's another card using the same technique. This time I made the embellishment using the spider from the Dark & Dreary stamp set:

To make the rest of the card I started again with a basic gray card and this time I took a piece of vellum and put it through the big shot with the spider web embossing folder. It cracked a little but I think it looks cool for Halloween! Then I punched out a border using the Lace Ribbon border punch on black card stock, attached the spider using some bakers twine and added the sentiment Happy Halloween from the House of Haunts stamp set.

Faux Metal Technique

Today is my Monthly Technique Class and we're going to make the card above! This month one of the techniques is Faux Metal... yep, that is not a real metal embellishment... It looks real though, doesn't it? I used the skeleton image from the set Batty For You to make the faux metal shape. Here's a close-up:

To make the rest of the card, I cut out the white shape using the top Note die (still my favorite die) with the big shot. Then I stamped the Hello Doily stamp on it using pumpkin pie ink. The Happy Halloween on the bottom of the shape is from the set House of Haunts. Then I added some black satin ribbon across the middle of the card. For a finishing touch I also punched out a strip of black using the Lace Ribbon Border punch! I love how this turned out... do you think it's a little vintage looking?

Boo Bag!

Here is a cool little treat purse for Halloween! It's small but is the perfect size to hold a mini candy bar! It has a little latch that keeps it closed with Velcro:

Lollies for Halloween!

Ok, I'm not sure what these are really called but I've been calling them "lollies" They're a cool accordian folded circle that you can make using the new Simply Scored tool from Stampin' Up! This tool is really awesome! It is a big plate with grooves in it that you can use the evenly score and is making any project I do with folds in it a breeze!

Here are some more lollies I made for Halloween! Sorry about the flash... these were hard to get a photo of because they were so tall I couldn't take a photo of them where I usually take my pictures.! I made 3 of them in different sizes and put them in a vase with Halloween candy corn! Isn't it cute?

Fall Thank you Card

It's getting a little colder here now and feels more like fall so I thought it would be a good day to share this pretty Fall Thank you card I made. I used the Stained Glass technique to make the square of red and yellow leaves. These leaves are from the stamp set Autumn Splendor. Doesn't it just look perfect for fall? I mounted it on a piece of black to really make it pop out. Then I stamped a strip of crumb cake card stock with the Woodgrain background stamp - I love this stamp! I put the whole thing together on a piece of more mustard card stock and added a piece of seam binding ribbon, also crumb cake. The sentiment is from the set Thank you Kindly.

Halloween Treats!

Here is a cute little treat holder. I made this using the Simply Scored tool. It's made from a piece of 6x6 Cardstock. You score in at 2" from each side, then make diagonal marks into the four corners. Fold it up and punch holes and thread shut with ribbon. Here's a top view:

Then I decorated the side panels using the stamp set Dark & Dreary.

Halloween Card

Here is another card using the Stained Glass technique I showed in this post. I made a few more pieces to try different things with. I love how this one turned out. Instead of gluing it on a white card stock piece, I glued it onto a piece of the cool paper with words on it from the special edition designer series paper.

Owl Card!

Here is a great fall card using the owl from the Halloween set Dark and Dreary. I like how the owl can be used for something other than Halloween like I did on this thanks card. I stamped the owl inside a frame created with the Designer Frames big shot embossing folder. I created a moon behind him by masking a circle and sponging over it.

For the background I created a textured piece for the back ground using the square lattice embossing folder and sponging over it. I also used a strip of the Special Edition patterned paper and a strip punched out with the Lace ribbon border punch!

Some Frankensteins!

Here are a couple of Frankenstein treat holders! Both of these are made using the XL Fancy Favor big shot die! The first one I used rich razzleberry cardstock and rolled bats on it using the Bring on the Bats wheel. Then I created a Lolly using the new Simply Scored tool to add on the front. The Frankenstein image is from the stamp set Batty for you! to make the ribbon, I cut a piece of the thick striped grosgrain in half to make it thinner. I like how this also gives it a rough frayed look.

The second one I drew a face on the fancy favor shape using a black marker. The eyes are punched out using the 1/2" circle punch. For the hair, I cut out angled pieces from the edge. The ears are made using the round tab punch.

Halloween Treats!

Wow! It's Oct 10th already... I'm behind on bloggin! Guess I've just been too busy creating! Here is a pic of all the cool projects we made at my halloween treats class last week. Aren't they cute?

Here are close-ups of each one:

the first is a candy holder made using the two tags big shot die:

Next, is a stick filled with m&ms... mmmmm... Aren't the mini cello bags from the holiday mini the coolest?

Here I showed a trick to make the candy wrapper die big enough to fit a full size candy bar. This one looks really cool but was the trickiest for most of my stampers that night! I used the First Edition paper and stamped the tree on it to make it look spooky! I love how versatile this paper is!

This bat is made with two milk carton die shapes attached together!

And last, but not least, I showed everyone how to make these fun "lollies" and attached one to the front of the bag cut out using the fancy favor die.

Beautiful Season

Here is the last card we made at the holiday stamp-a-stack. This one uses the set Beautiful Season. I love how pretty the stamp of the chickadee is. I stamped it with black and colored it using a qtip and chalks. The oval shape was made by punching out an oval with the big shot scallop oval die. The rest of the card was pretty simple-- scallop trim border punch and some green with the sentiment on it.

Pines and Pointsettias Holiday card

Here is another card using the Pines & Pointsettias set. This one is a little simpler than the last (we made this at my holiday stamp-a-stack). The card base is Wild Wasabi and I layered a strip of the Holly Berry Bouquet designer paper across it. I also punched out a strip of white using the
Lace Ribbon Border punch. Isn't it pretty? The main image was colored with markers and stamped. Quick and easy for Christmas!

Here is another holiday card -- this one uses the Pines & Pointsettias set. I stamped the background using the XL Woodgrain stamp. I stamped the main image by coloring the stamp with markers. Then I colored over part of the rose with a Versamarker and embossed it with cherry cobbler embossing powder.

Sparkly Holiday Card

Here is another card using the Chirstmas Lodge Stamp set. This time I cut out the top note die shape using white cardstock in the big shot. Then I stamped the trees along the bottom with Pear Pizazz ink.. I stamped twice before re-inking so that every other tree looks lighter. Then I stamped the sentiment across the top with cherry cobbler ink and added some ribbon (seam binding) across the center. I added a little glue along the bottom, (tombow multi-purpose liquid glue) and added some of the Mica Flakes from the holiday mini. WARNING! these are MESSY!!! be careful because they stick to everything! But they're worth it... look how pretty it looks!

I attached it all to a crumb cake card base that I had also layered with some pear pizazz paper that was embossing with the petals-a-plenty embossing folder.

Christmas Lodge

Another Holiday card.. I know it's only Sept. but it's never too early to start planning those holiday cards! This one uses some fun stuff from the holiday mini book. The stamp is from the set Christmas Lodge. I stamped the trees right on the suede paper and then stamped the lodge on white and punched it out with the 2 1/2" circle punch. I added "noel" from the set Many Merry Messages in cherry cobbler ink. The scallop behind it is cut out using the Perfect Pennants big shot die. Then I added some plaid paper from the Frostwood Lodge paper pack and some seam binding ribbon! What a pretty holiday card!

Faux tearing Fall

Each month I've been showing two techniques in my technique class. Here is the second one for this month. It's called "Faux Tearing" because it looks like torn paper but really is created with one layer! Here's a close-up so you can see:

Isn't it neat how it has so much dimension but it is only one layer of card stock? I used the stamp set French Foliage to make this card. This is one of my favorite fall sets, I love the distressed look of the leaves and the french script writing! I used the thanksgiving sentiment from the set Day of Gratitude. Then I framed the whole thing using the framed tulips embossing folder!

Stained Glass for Halloween

Here is a card we are making at my Technique Class tonight! Isn't it cool? I used a technique called "Stained Glass". If you like techniques, make sure to sign up for my next class. I have another technique class in October and then I'm taking a break from them until the new year.

For this card I used the stamp set Dark & Dreary. I used the spider along the bottom of the gray cardstock and then added a strip of black that I embossed with the spider web embossing folder. I also added some black satin ribbon. I don't usually use the same color ribbon and cardstock together like this but I liked the tone-on-tone effect it gave this card. then I added on the square using the Happy Halloween stamp and the stained glass technique. Isn't it cool?

Christmas Doilies!

I just knew that the big Hello, Doily stamp would make some really cool cards and I thought why not use it for Christmas? Here are two cool cards I made using it. On the first card I paired it with the delicate doilies stamp set. First, I stamped the large doily in Versamark ink onto cherry cobbler paper and embossed it with white embossing powder.

You can tell I didn't get it inked quite evenly but I like how that makes it look sort of weathered and vintage on this card. Then I stamped around it using some of the stamps from the delicate doilies stamp set with cherry cobbler ink. I like the subtle background that added. Then to finish off I added some satin ribbon and a small tie of lucky limeade ruffled ribbon to give it that Christmas punch. Then I stamped the saying from the Beautiful Season stamp set and added that on with the label punch.

The second Doily card is similar but a little cleaner looking. I started out embossing the Large doily the same way as on the first card but this time I inked it a little better. Then I added a white flower punched out with the 5 petal flower punch into the center and curled the petals up with a bone folder. The center of the flower is the little flower in the …. punch pack. Then I punched out a strip using the Lace Ribbon border punch and added the same sentiment, this time with an oval. Which card do you like better?

Fall Thank you!

It has really started to feel like fall here the past couple of days! I can't believe it's already that time of year. I'm sad to see summer go but I do really love the fall days. There's something wonderful about throwing on a hooded sweatshirt and going for a walk…especially once the leaves start chaining color!

Here is a card that is perfect for this time of year. It uses the set Day of Gratitude. This was one of my favorites from the Holiday mini last year so I was excited to see it made it into this years big book! I love the big medallion that's in the set and the leaves. On this card I stamped them randomly on very vanilla card stock using riding hood red, pumpkin pie and chocolate chip ink. Then I made a border using the awesome Lace ribbon border punch out of chocolate chip card stock. I also added some early espresso bakers twine and the sentiment punched out with the Decorative label punch.

Seal Birthday Card

Here is a card made using the Under the Big Top circus set! I really love this set... I think because of the colors they used and the coordinating paper--It's so bright and cheery! I can see lots of great birthday cards to be made with this.

To start out I made a birthday card for my brother. I stamped the seal and colored it in with markers to coordinate with the paper using tempting turquoise, daffodil delight and real red. I added some glitter onto the seal using the new Dazzling Details liquid glitter. This is a great way to add glitter without all the mess since it is like a liquid glue.. just make sure you leave enough time for it to dry before you have to mail your card! Here is a close-up so you can see the sparkly seal:

The Sentiment is from the hostess set Happiest Birthday wishes! This set is a great value- it has a ton of cool birthday sayings.. all you need to do is host a workshop to get it!

A Non-stamping project!

Here is a gift I made for my mom for her birthday! I first saw the wreath on the blog Jen's Stamp World... Here is the link. It is made from recycled book pages that are cut in spirals and twisted into roses. I love how this turned out!

I used Styrofoam wreath base and glued the roses on with a hot glue gun. I did burn my finger a couple of times so if you try this.. make sure to be careful. It wasn't difficult but did take some time and patience!!

Hot Air Balloons

When I first looked through the new idea book and catalog, this was one of the set that caught my eye! It's called Up, Up, and Away-- which always makes me sing that song in my head! I just thought it would be so fun and cheerful to make cards with. I haven't had much of a chance to play with it yet but here is one card I made. I used some of the new InColors (wisteria wonder, pool party, calypso coral and island indigo) to stamp the balloons. Then I created some fun clouds behind them using a scallop circle as a mask for sponging. This card also uses the super pretty ruffled ribbon and the houndstooth embossing folder.

Ribbon Rose Card

Here is the other technique I taught at my last technique class -- ribbon roses! This is something that is easy to do and adds something so elegant to a card. I used seam binding ribbon to create this rose because I found it twists really well. I thought the rose was so pretty and elegant that it would make a great wedding or anniversary card so I paired it with a very simple white front, embossing part way up with the vintage wallpaper embossing folder. I stamped the word "cherish" from the Baroque Motifs Stamp set and added the rose on. The rose petals are made by punching out the 5-petal flower punch from olive card stock and cutting two petals off to look like leaves! I love how versatile punches can be! I also added a pearl in the middle of the rose. I love how this card turned out!

Scented Cherry Card

This card was created for my last technique class. The technique used here was scratch and sniff. If you scratch the cherries they actually smell like cherries! How cool is that? You use a mix of embossing powder and Kool-aid to get this effect. Want to learn cool techniques like this? Contact me to sign up for my next technique class!

For the rest of the card I used some other fun stuff including the new Lace Ribbon Border punch and the designer frames embossing folder. To make the cute little tag I just punched out a curly label punch and tucked it behind the main image. The "friends" word is from the Tiny Tags Stamp set.

Berry Wishes Card!

Here's Another one using the Fruit & Flowers stamp set. Can you tell I'm having a ton of fun with this set? Sometimes I will get a stamp set that is just so much fun to play with and this is definitely one of them! This card is pretty simple. I started with a calypso coral base and layered some patterned paper from the Berry Blossoms Designer paper pack over it-- This paper is SUPER CUTE!! for the main image I embossed the oval using one of the designer frame embossing folders. This one is my favorite because the oval punch fits perfectly inside! I added on some bakers twine and the sentiment "best wishes" from the Sincere Salutations stamp set. Oh, and I almost forgot, I used the cool Lace Ribbon Border with wisteria wonder card stock to add some fun detail!

Berry Cute Matchbox

Hello there! Today I'm sharing a cute little matchbox made using the Berry Blossoms Designer series paper. This paper is Amazing! It's so cute and summery… I just love it. If you love paper, make sure to place your order before the end of the month since all the designer papers are buy three get one free! What a deal! Check out the details here.

For this cute little box, I simply cut the box out using the XL Matchbox big shot die and folded it up. This die is really simple to use. The bottom doesn't even need any adhesive! I finished the box off by stamping the strawberry from the Fruit & Flowers stamp set on a piece of white that was also cut out with the XL matchbox die. On top of that I stamped the word "friends" from the Tiny Tags stamp set. I tied a piece of ruffled ribbon around the box and then added the tag using a piece of bakers twine. Triple Turtles

Here is another card using a set from the summer mini called Summer Splash. I can't believe that summer is almost over! The summer mini Catalog is done in just a few days and it will be September! Where does the time go?

To make this card I stamped three squares using the clear stamp blocks as stamps with pool party ink. Then I stamped turtles using pacific point ink over the top. I stamped another turtle with lucky limeade ink on another piece of carsick and cut him out so that I could add him on with a dimensional. The rest of the card is pretty simple, lucky limeade dots embossed using the polka dot embossing folder in the big shot, a border using the scallop trim border punch. I also added on some seam binding ribbon and a small "4 you" sentiment from the Tiny Tags stamp set, punched out with the jewelry tag punch. The Birthday Celebrations sentiment is from the Upsy Daisy stamp set-- and it looks like I stamped it a little crooked!

Sail Away!

Here is a fun card I made using the Sail Away set in the summer mini. If you like this set or anything else in the mini, you only have a few days left to order since it is only available until August 31st!

To make this card I used a beauty color combo of pool party, river rock, crumb cake and early espresso. The embossed background was created using the lattice embossing folder in the Big shot. I added to eyelets and some bakers twine to give it a bit of a Nautical look. The background behind the sailboat was created using an acrylic block as a stamp. To finish it off I used the Thinking of you Sentiment from the Sincere Salutations stamp set.

Did you Notice that the Fruit & Flowers set has flowers too? he he he.. I've been so busy using the fruit I thought I should try a card using the flowers! So I stamped some flowers along the bottom of the white top note shape (cut with the big shot) and then added a fun flower made by punching out several layers of cardstock with the 5-petal flower punch. I added a birthday sentiment from the Happiest Birthday Wishes hostess set!

Another Berry card.. this time In a square. I love how simple this layout is! It makes a cute easy card with just a few punches! I stamped 4 images from the fruit and flowers set and punched them out with the square punch and layered them with squares punched with the scallop square punch. Again, I used the same color theme as the last few I've shown you. These new InColors work great for this set!

Strawberry Punch Art!

Here is one of the cards from the Fruit & Flowers stamp class! I thought it would be fun to use punches to create a large strawberry. The strawberry is made by punching out a large heart from calypso coral cardstock (also textured with the polka dots embossing folder). The leaves are from the 5-petal flower punch with some of the leaves cut out. The little stems are cut out using the big shot and the little leaves sizzlit die and the little white flowers are from the itty bitty shapes punch pack.

To make the card I cut out the top note shape with the big shot and white card stock. I stamped the strawberries from the Fruit & Flowers stamp set along the bottom of the card. The birthday sentiment is from the Birthday hostess stamp set Happiest Birthday Wishes. Then I added some of the cool ruffled ribbon and paper from the Berry Blossoms paper pack!

Double Popsicle Card

Ok... Almost a week later I'm finally sharing what we made in my Fruit & Flowers class last week! This set is so much fun! I had a ton of fun creating the projects. I hope the girls who attended had as much fun making them! This card was inspired by a Popsicle card I made a while back. If you want to see that it's in this post.

To make this card I cut the card stock (I used calypso coral) in half to 4.25 x 8.5, then scored in 2.25" from each end along the long side. I added the Popsicle sticks on the inside of each short panel. Note: when you add on the sticks make sure they don't stick down so far that your card won't fit in a standard sized envelope!

The main image on the front is embossed using the Designer Frames Embossing Folder in the big shot. Then I stamped the strawberry from the Fruit & Flowers set and punched it out with the Large oval punch. This fits perfectly inside the embossed shape. The ribbon is attached under the piece of chocolate chip card stock and wraps all the way around the card to keep it closed.

Berry Basket!

Isn't this Berry Basket super cute? When I saw the sample of these berries in the new Idea Book and catalog I knew I had to figure out how to make them - hint, they're made using the flower folds big shot die. This is one of the projects I have planned for the Fruit and Flowers class on Aug. 11. My class participants will get to make two berries and the basket along with 4 other projects! How cool is this? Doesn't it remind you of that game spiro-graph? This set, Delicate Doilies, reminds me of that game! I loved it when I was a kid! To make the cool embellishment, I stamped the smaller doily in cherry cobbler and attached it to a scallop punch circle. Then I started wrapping bakers twine around between the scallops!

Bubble Background Technique

This was the other technique for July... I'm a little slow at posting these! This technique was called bubble background! I love how this card turned out with the sailboat. The boat is a single wood stamp from the summer mini called Sail Away. I used the bubble background technique as a background piece and layered the sailboat image over it. The boat was stamped on crumb cake cardstock and the sail was colored in with a white watercolor pencil. The sentiment is from the stamp set Herb Expressions.

Shaving Cream Technique!

Here is a card that we made at my last technique class! We had a great time getting messy with shaving cream and re-inkers to create sheets of shaving cream swirls!

I thought it was perfect to match the shaving cream with the surfboards from the Summer Splash stamp set. It makes the shaving cream background look like waves!

Smart Owl!

Here is a graduation card that I made for a recent graduation party. I have seen a lot of cards using the owl punch to make a graduation card so thought I'd give it a try! I punched out the owl using the owl punch and then gave him big wings by punching out scallop circles and cutting them to look like wings. The branch is the "little leaves" sizzlet die cut out with the Big Shot. I glued him together and cut out a squares from black to make the hat. Then I attached him to a white circle punched out with the 2 1/2" circle punch. For his little diploma I rolled a little piece of lightweight paper and tied it with a piece of 1/8" taffeta ribbon.

The background is embossing using the new Stripes embossing folder on concord crush card stock.

Wisteria Bird!

Here is a a cute birdie card using the new InColor - Wisteria Wonder. I used the music notes wheel with black ink to make the background of music. Then I stamped the cage and bird from the Aviary stamp set. I punched some holes and tied bakers twine at the top to make a bow. I layered this image with black and wisteria cardstock and stamped the sentiment "thanks so much" from the Tiny Tags set. I paper pierced holes along the bottom to add some detail.

Zoo Birthday!

Here is a cute card I made for a little boys first birthday! I love the set Fox and Friends for making cards for kids! Just use some bright colors and it's perfect! For colors I used Wild Wasabi (turtle), Tangerine Tango (fox), Chocolate chip (0wl) and Daffodil Delight (lion). Then I added on some of the new polka-dot scallop ribbon. Isn't it cute? The Little tag is from the stamp set Tiny Tags and I punched it out with the jewelry tag punch and added it on with some bakers twine in white.

The polka dots are the dots from the Summer Splash set in the summer mini. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from a retired set. Here is a close up:

One lucky winner received this set of four cards at my open house! I was having fun playing with the new InColors and the Delicate Doilies Stamp set! The first card (above) is the same layout as the one we made at my open house but in different colors.

Open House Cards!

In Case you missed my open house -here's what everyone got to make! This card uses the 3 of the new in colors --calypso coral, pool party and lucky limeade! Plus the new Stamp set Delicate Doilies and the new punch - Lace ribbon border punch. Some of the ladies had a hard time with the punch but I played with it after everyone left and I think that you just can't be afraid to push really hard. When you hesitate and stop pushing it gets jammed!!

I also had this cute bookmark as a make-and-take -- this was a fun way to try out all the new in-colors! The flower is from the new hostess set Array of Sunshine. Faux Mother of Pearl

I'm finally getting around to posting the last cards I designed for the June Technique class. I'm having so much fun finding techniques and trying them out! If you live near me I'd love to have you at my next class- just let me know if you'd like to attend.

For June the first technique we did was Faux Mother of Pearl. This is a fun technique that I'd never tried before. I learned about this technique in my monthly magazine that I get from Stampin' Up-- one of the perks of being a demonstrator, you get this cool magazine that is filled with ideas each month!

I used the On the Grow Stamp set -- I've mostly used the scooter from this set in previous cards but I thought the vase of flowers would be perfect for this technique.

It's hard to see in the photo but this shimmers really nicely in person. We stamped the flower image over our Faux mother of pearl technique square but you could punch out a shape instead too… I've seen some cool samples of flowers made from it but haven't had a chance to try it myself yet.

Soot Stamping - and Last day to order Pirates!

This card was party of the June Technique class. It's a technique called Soot Stamping. You have to be very careful… it involves a candle and flame! Luckily, none of the girls in my class caught anything on fire!! But If you can carefully do the technique, you get great results! Isn't it cool?

Retiring set- Eastern Blooms

Here is the third card we made at Last Chance Stamp-a-Stack last week.

This card uses the stamp set Eastern. I love the floral images in this set- they work great for making elegant cards! This card also uses the Designer Label punch, which will only be available while supplies last. If you like this punch, you should order it right away. on this card I used it to make the vase! I also did a fun new technique on this card where I embossed the brad to match the card! I simply squished the brad into the versamark ink pad, then dipped it into the tangerine tango embossing powder and heated it with the heat gun! How cool is that?

This card uses the stamp set Cheep Talk. This is a great set for anyone who loves birds. It's super cute and whimsical and creates really cute cards. To make this card I stamped the branch onto a piece of white that was cut out using the top note die in the big shot. Then I stamped the bird onto the branch and the sentiment below . The flower is made using the new Blossom Bouquet Triple layer punch.

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day! I hope everyone has a chance to spend time with their fathers today. I'm a little too far away from mine to get to visit today but I did send him this fun card! I used the set the Open Sea to stamp this card. I stamped the textured text image with soft suede on whisper white and sponged the edges to make it look aged. Then I stamped the boat onto another piece using soft suede again and sponging again. It's cool how simply you can make something look all aged and textured just by sponging on some ink! The sentiment "happy fathers day" is from a retired hostess set I have.

welcome card

I recently had some family move back into town so I thought it would be nice to send them a welcome card. I used the retired stamp set Right at Home to create this card. This set retired a couple years back but I hung onto it because it's nice to have something like this when you need it. I stamped the image onto a piece of white that I had cut out with the big shot top note die. Then I colored the houses using blender pens and ink from the lids of ink pads. to make the clouds, I used a scrap piece of paper that I punched the scallop circle out of as a mask and sponged around it with blue. I added some poly-stitched ribbon in poppy parade. Also I used a piece of crumb cake card stock that I had created texture on using the two-tone embossing technique with the Square lattice embossing folder.

Fabulous Thank you

Similar to the post yesterday, this card uses the simple, elegant palette of black, vanilla and crumb cake - but this time I added old olive. You could easily change it to any color to make it a fabulous wedding card but I decided to make it an elegant thank you. I stamped the branch image in old olive on the old olive card stock to create a tone-on-tone effect for the background. I also used a piece of card stock that I embossed and inked using the two-tone embossing technique. I love how this turned out! The little sentiment "thanks so much" is from the Tiny Tags stamp set.

Fabulous Florets Wedding Cards!

Today I'm sharing a couple of beautiful wedding cards made with the Fabulous Florets stamp set. I love how just by using the elegant color combo of Crumb Cake, Vanilla and Black you can make a simple yet beautiful wedding card! I also used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder to add some texture to the bottom black layer. The sentiment "Wishing you Happiness Today and Always" is from the stamp set Heard from the Heart.

Here is another variation of the same idea. This time I stamped the leaf image on the crumb cake layer and the flower image onto vanilla using black ink. This one simply says "love" so it could be used for a wedding or anniversary or just because! The love stamp is from the set Tiny Tags.

Beyond the Garden paper -2

One last inlaid embossing card. I made This card using the Beyond the Garden designer paper layered over the pacific point card stock. I coordinated it with some satin ribbon and a scallop circle punched from wild wasabi ribbon. Then I stamped the Happy Birthday from the Afterthoughts hostess set and layered it over the top. This is a quick and easy birthday card!

I also stamped some flowers on the inside using the fabulous florets stamp set:

Beyond the Garden paper

Here is another fun card using the inlaid embossing technique. This time I used patterned paper, punched out using the postage stamp punch. I embossed this little strip using the lattice embossing folder. I added it to the card and tied it with bakers twine. I added this over a piece of so saffron card stock. The whole card is on a marina mist card stock base.
