Celebrate!

Have you checked out all the cool new Sale-a-Bration sets yet? This card was made using one of the sets you can earn for Free durning Sale-a-Bration just by spending $50!  It's called Feeling Sentimental! I love the vintage feel it has. For this card I made it very simple- a Vanilla card base and some wisteria wonder cardstock embossed with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder. Then I cut a shape out using the Apothecary Accents Framelits dies and stamped my images on that. I sponged the edges a bit to add more of an aged look and also added some adhesive pearls. Wouldn't this be a great birthday or anniversary card?

Hello, Lobster!

Here's another take on the lobster card I made the other day. When I'm just messing around making cards, sometimes I find it's easy to make a few cards with the same stamp set and color combo - and that's exactly what happened here. I turned it to make a vertical card that focused on the lobster image and then added a teeny little "hello" from the Sale-a-Bration set Pretty Petities and punched it out with the coordinating punch Petite Curly Label. These products are both Sale-a-Bration items that you can earn for free during the sale by spending $50.

stamps: by the tide, Pretty Petites
ink: pool party, river rock, cherry cobbler
paper: Whisper white, river rock, pool party
other: Natural trim ribbon, Petite Curly Label punch

twirly birthday!

This is my favorite card I've made with the pinwheel die so far. I love how it looks to add the clouds behind them! It gives it such a fun, light and whimsical look! I made two pinwheels using the pinwheel sizzlit die in the spring catalog. They are made using the print poetry designer paper stack.  Then I simply layered them over a piece of card stock embossed using the Cloudy Day embossing folder.  The sentiment is format he coordinating stamp set, wishes your way.

stamps: wishes your way
ink: early espresso
paper: Very Vanilla, Print Poetry Designer Series paper stack, Gumball Green, crumb cake

Whalecome!

Here is a fun and bright card made with the Oh Whale set… this would be perfect for a baby shower, don't you think? I tried to make it unisex but the pink ribbon makes it a little girly at the end. I think I would switch it out to blue or green ribbon for a boy but liked how the pink matched the hearts above the whale.

I love how it looks on this card to use a white base and have the bright yellow pop off from it.. I think it gives it a really fresh spring feeling!

stamps: oh, whale
ink: Marina mist, Lucky Limeade, Melon Mambo
paper: Whisper white, Daffodil Delight, Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series paper
big shot: Happy Whale Clearlits die, perfect polka dots embossing folder

Birthday Garden

Have you checked out the new Secret Garden set yet? This set is really nice because it has a matching framelits die - makes is so much easier than trying to cut out your flowers with a scissors!

To make this card I first cut out a white piece of card stock with the Window Frame  Framelits Die and then I stamped the outlined flower from the secret garden set with primrose petals ink. Then I stamped the little orang flower and leaves on a separate piece of white paper  and cut them out with the coordinating framelits dies. I added these on and stamped the "Happy Birthday" sentiment from the Essentials stamp set (also in the spring catalog).

Then I used the Vine Street Embossing folder to make the background texture - this is a Sale-a-Bration item that you can earn for free during the sale by spending $50.

Masculine whale thank you

Here is a thank you card that would be great to send a guy -- I used the whale from the Oh,Whale set paired with the paisley paper from the new print poetry designer series paper pack to make this simple thank you. I simply chose a few basic colors and added the sentiment with the word window and modern label punches. I love how simple and cute this card is!

Seaside thank you

I love how this card turned out using the new By the Tide stamp set! I used a color combo of calypso coral, crumb cake and pool party - doesn't it look perfect for beach and coral colors? I cut out the white with the top note big shot die and randomly stamped the script, seahorses and coral on it to create a fun background. Then I added the simple thank you in the oval but you could easily use a birthday sentiment too.

stamps: By the Tide, essentials
ink: calyso coral, pool party, crumb cake
paper: calyso coral, pool party, crumb cake, whisper white

big shot: Top note die, Fancy Fans embossing folder

Secret Garden

Have you checked out the new Secret Garden set yet? This set is really nice because it has a matching framelits die - makes is so much easier than trying to cut out your flowers with a scissors!  To make this card I chose papers that coordinated with the new print poetry designer series paper pack. I used primrose petals, raspberry ripple, summer starfruit and gumball green. I'm not sure if I like the flower cut out of the starfruit paper... maybe it would have looked better stamped on white and colored in?

Lobster for your birthday?

Sounds good to me! Today I'm sharing a fun card made using the new By the Tide set. I love the fun lobster illustration in this set!  I tried to make the color combo on this card beachy so I used cherry cobbler, pool party and river rock.  I also used some of the new natural trim ribbon.  it's hard to tell in the photo but I also used the new borders scoring plate for the Simply Scored board to make some wave ripples along the bottom!

Sweet little pinwheel!

When I noticed the little pinwheel die in the Spring Catalog I knew I had to have it - I've made these little guys before by hand, but a die makes everything easier :) I will be showing how to cut out and assemble these little pinwheels at my next stamp-a-stack so be sure to sign up!

For this card I used a color combo based off the colors in the new little paper stack in the Spring book - It's called print poetry. It has a whole bunch of pretty colors in it and I picked primrose petals, summer starfruit and Raspberry ripple - which I realized after are all InColors!

This card was really simple to make, I just used the primrose petals for the card base, embossed a piece of the summer starfruit with the perfect polka dots embossing folder in the big shot and then added a "flag" from the print poetry paper… see the dot theme? The pinwheel was made from paper from the print poetry stack as well. Then I added a little swatch of raspberry ripple behind it, punched out with the postage stamp punch. The set of stamps that coordinates with the pinwheels has some really fun sayings on it. I chose the one that said "blowing wishes your way" -- thought it would make a good birthday card.

stamps: wishes your way
ink: primrose petals
paper: Whisper white, primrose petals, summer starfruit, raspberry ripple, Print Poetry Designer Series paper stack
big shot: perfect polka dots embossing folder, pinwheel sizzlit die

Thanks a Ton

Did you get some great stuff for christmas? I know I did so now it's time to make some thank-you cards, right?

For this card I used the marina mist paper as my card base and some paper with whales from the Sunshine and sprinkles designer paper. I also used a bit more of the beautiful new striped organdy ribbon - I can tell already this ribbon will be a staple of mine for the next few months - I love it!

The  whale is stamped with marina mist ink and cut out using the coordinating die (Happy Whale) in the big shot.  For this card I also punched out some circles to make it just a simple, fun design. The colors are a bit baby though.. maybe next time I will make it more Valentine colors!

Yarn wreaths with Felt flowers

I'm almost done sharing holiday projects -- I had so much fun making these yarn/felt wreaths for craft fairs and christmas gifts. It was fun trying different color combos of yarn and felt. Wrapping the foam wreath with the yarn was very time consuming -- it took over an hour to do each one plus the time to make all the flowers but they turned out so pretty! All the felt flowers are made with different dies in the big shot and then either sewn or glued together! Hope you enjoy them!

Quick and easy Gift Bags

Once the gifts were ready I needed some extra gift bags... Luckily I had in my stash some plain kraft and white gift bags just begging to be dressed up for the holidays! I simply added on a sheet of paper from the Festival of Prints designer paper pack. Then I added a snowflake cut out with the  big shot Snow Flurries die and an oval stamped with Peace on earth! These went together very quickly and are so pretty!

Handmade Holiday Gifts

Now that the holidays are over and the gifts are unwrapped I can share a few of the ones I made this year. I found this idea on pinterest -- chalkboard mugs! Although it was a little harder than I thought it might be. I carefully used painters tape to tape off a section of the mug where I wanted the chalkboard area to be, covering the rest of the mug with plastic wrap to protect it. Then I handed them off to my husband, Jeff, who's handier with spray paint than I am. He gave them each a few coats of chalkboard spray paint. Then,  I carefully peeled off the tape and plastic wrap and touched up any mistakes with an exacto knife. To prime the area for chalk, you need to scribble all over it with chalk first and then wipe it off. Now they were ready to gift.. I added in some chalk in a little cello bag along with coffe or hot chocolate and some cute marshmallow snowmen and a candy cane!
