Heart Card

Here is a cute card I made for Valentines Day. I was playing with this kind of funky color combo and I like how it turned out. I started out using the Big heart from the stamp set Always. I really liked how this heart had dots around the edge so I stamped it first on the taken with teal and trimmed it down and then stamped it on whisper white with Cameo Coral ink and trimmed it down past the dots to make the main layered image. Then I mounted it on a piece of so saffron and that was stamped with the branch from the Always set. To add to the dot effect, I paper pierced around the whole edge of the so saffron piece. This piece is mounted on a piece of rose red cardstock. The little bitty heart is from the stamp set You & Moi. I also stamped that in Cameo Coral and cut it out. I attached it with a dimensional to pop it off the card. Then in the background I used a strip of Taken with teal and stamped it with the flower from the Always set. Added a little ribbon and the sentiment "thinking of you" from the Trendy Trees stamp set.

polar bear thank you..

I've seen a few cards around lately with polar bears made out of punches so I had to try it myself! Here's how mine turned out. Isn't it adorable? I started with a Kraft paper card base and then used a piece of brocade blue for the sky. I stamped the snowflakes from the Patterned Pines set and then made the snowbank by cutting a piece of white the same size as the blue and tearing it and sponging the edge.

The bears are all made from punches. For the big bear I used the Wide Oval Punch for the body and the 1 3/8 inch circle punch for the head. For the ears I used two 1/2 inch circle punches and for the nose I used the large oval punch and then cut it to look like a nose. The little black circle was made using a circle handheld punch.

For the smaller bear I did pretty much the same except used smaller punches. The body is the large oval, the head is the 1 1/4 inch circle and the snout is the small oval cut to look like a nose. I used the same punches for the noses and ears. Then I drew on eyes with a black marker.

The sentiment "thanks so much" is from the Trendy Trees Stamp set.

Hope you enjoyed the cute bears! I love punch art!

Sweet Trees!

This is one of the cards we made at my Stamp-a-Stack this Tuesday! I'm sure you remember how much I love these trees...I thought, why not do them in pink? It makes such a sweet card for a February birthday or even a Valentine! The only stamp set used on this is the Trendy Trees Set. I stamped one tree using pretty in pink ink and melon mambo ink. I love both of these pinks!! The trunks are stamped with chocolate chip. I love how the spiral shape can either be a tree or just a decorative element. I stamped it on the melon mambo cardstock using melon mambo ink to get a pretty tone-on-tone effect. This card is simple and cute!

stamps: Trendy Trees
ink: pretty in pink, melon mambo, chocolate chip
paper: whisper white, pretty in pink, melon mambo, chocolate chip, old olive
other: pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon

Love you Much card...

Here is a card I recently made at my uplines house. It uses new sets and paper from the mini catalog! The sentiment "Love You Much" is from the stamp set Well-Scripted. This set is so cool--I love how swirly the words are and it has some great versatile sayings in it. On this card I stamped it in Chocolate chip ink on white cardstock. The big red heart is a stamp from the I {Heart} Hearts set. This is a great valentine/love set. This was stamped in red and then attached with a dimensional dot. The little brown heart was punched out using the new Small Heart Punch. The paper across the bottom is a piece of the Sending Love Specialty paper-- This is really pretty paper with lots of glitter in it. To get that cool circle effect on the bottom, you use a slit punch and punch slits just slightly apart all the way across the paper and then you fold it up. This works great with the double-sided paper since you get a peak at both sides!

stamps: I {Heart} Hearts, Well-Scripted
ink:Chocolate Chip, Real Red
paper: Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Sending Love Specialty
other: dimensionals, Small Heart punch, Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon

New toys!

My new toys have finally arrived! I'm so excited for new stamps and punches too! I also ordered the new clear blocks and a couple of the clear-mount sets to check those out. At first try I'm impressed with the clear-mount system.

The blocks are really smooth and have great grooves in the sides for your fingers. Here's what they look like:

Then the stamps come in a dvd-sized case. These cases are great because the images are printed on the front in actual size and then again small on the spine so you can easily see what's in the set you're looking for.

Inside the case this is what you get--Stamps made of rubber that are die cut and a sticker sheet. You simply break the stamp out of the sheet, then attach the sticker to the back side, carefully lining it up so you can see where the image will be. Now the stamp is ready to use. You can see in the photo that I've assembled the flower.

I did a little trial of these and so far they seem to work great. You just set the stamp down on your table with the sticker side up. Choose a clear block that fits it. Set your block on top of the stamp and apply some pressure to it to get the stamp to stick. Once it's stuck on there I was able to shake it around and even clean it on the Stampin' Scrub without the stamp falling off. To be honest, I was worried about them falling off so I was impressed that it seemed to cling pretty well. Use the stamp just like you would a wood block stamp but now you have more visibility as to where it will stamp.

The other cool thing about these stamps is that they take up less storage space. here's a comparison:

I still love my wood-mounted stamps but I'm excited to have the new clear-mounted option! I'm anxious to see what everyone else thinks of these!

I'll be stamping more soon so stay tuned for new projects coming up!

Stampin' Up Cat Bed?

Look what I found under my stamp table tonight-- My Newton had crawled into my Stampin' Up Doctors Bag and then fell asleep! Too cute!

Some of my holiday projects...

Oooh. I'm so excited! I finally ordered from the new Occassion mini!! I know it only just became avaliable yesterday but since I'm a demonstrator I've known about it and what was in it for over a month!! I resisted ordering early this time--although its really cool that as a demonstrator you can pre-order some things--but with the holidays and everything I didn't have the time or money to spend last month so I saved up and ordered now. I'm so excited to get all my stuff.... I can't wait to make fun stuff to share!! I should have it sometime next week so stay tuned....

Meanwhile, I promised to share some of my holiday projects and I've finally dug through all the photos and pulled out a couple to share.

Here is a cool little dresser I made for my sister. This is made by making 3 boxes with the Big Shot Matchbox die and then stacking them and wrapping a sheet of paper around them to make them into a dresser. I also put some adhesive between the layers so that they wouldn't slide apart. I used soft suede and bashful blue card stock along with the Bella Bleu Deisgner Paper.

To make the drawer pulls I used some old flower shaped brads that I had and put one in the side of each box and then threaded ribbon through the holes to make little handles. For ribbon I used Basful Blue Taffeta ribbon and the 1/2" polka-dot grosgrain in soft Suede to match the paper. Isn't that cute?

Then to add a finishing touch I wrapped some thick Striped Grosgrain ribbon around the box--I used Chocolate Chip, which doesn't totally match but I think it looks ok.

Here's a photo of it with the drawers open. The flower on the top is actually a ring that I bought my sis that was a little too big to fit in the drawers so I tied it onto the top and it looked really cute. In the drawers was jewelry and, of course, chocolate!!

I made a few non-stamping related gifts for the holidays too! Here is a photo of a wreath that I made for my mom. I didn't get that great of a photo of it since I had to take it with a flash but you get the idea. It was my first attempt at doing something "floral" and I think it turned out awesome. The hardest part was making the bow. I must have made it 4 times before I got it right!!

I also made this for my Dad. He makes homemade wine so I designed some labels for him and put them in this cool tin:

He loved it. He already used up his labels so I have to make him some more!! Here is the inside. I lined it with elegant eggplant paper and made a pocket with old olive card stock on one side to hold all the labels. The other side I attached a small notepad. The swirl stamp is from the Season of Joy stamp set.
