Letterpress Valentines

I thought I'd give the Lots of Love letterpress a try - I've had this for awhile but haven't played with it much. It's similar to an embossing folder except that it just presses the paper from one side and you can also add ink to it! I used a chocolate chip craft Stampin' Spot to ink just the large word love. Then I put it through the Big Shot using some pink pirouette cardstock. I did this twice and made two cards with it.

Here is the other card:I made both card pretty simple since the letterpress is so pretty. I really like how elegant it looks. This would make a great wedding card too!

stamps: none!
ink: chocolate chip
paper:crumb cake, chocolate chip, pink pirouette
other: Lots of Love Letterpress plate, big shot, scallop trim border punch, eyelet border punch, rose red seam binding ribbon

Sale-a-Bration Bliss!

It's now officially Sale-a-Bration! This is my favorite special of the whole year... For every $50 in stampin' goodies you buy, you get to choose a free item from the Sale-a-Bration mini catalog! How cool is that? I made this card using one of the stamp sets you can choose for free. It's called Bliss.

I couldn't decide what colors to use for this card so I pulled out my color coach and went to real red and saw this color combo: real red, early espresso and pumpkin pie. I'm not sure I would have otherwise tried these colors together but thought I'd give it a shot. I'm happy with how it turned out! I added some crumb cake... my favorite neutral lately and of course, white.

The polka dot background was created using the Big Shot and the Perfect Polka dots embossing folder. I also used the scallop trim border punch to get that pretty edge.

If you like this set, you can get it for free simply by ordering $50 of stampin' stuff! If you want to see what else you could get make sure to download a copy of the SAB brochure here.

ink: Real red, early espresso, pumpkin pie
paper: early espresso, pumpkin pie, whisper white, crumb cake

Simply Valentine

I was browsing through my stamp collection and found the set Simply Said, which I haven't used in quite a while so I thought I'd pull it out and make a valentine! I'm sorry if you're getting bored with the color scheme I'm using for most of my valentines but I really love how it looks together!

I stamped the hearts onto some scrap whisper white using crumb cake, pretty in pink and rose red inks. Then I punched them out with the square punch and framed them with scallop squares punched out of chocolate chip and rose red card stock. Then I sent a piece of pretty in pink card stock through the big shot with the perfect polka dots embossing folder. I added some rose red seam binding ribbon and finished it off with the "love you" from the Valentine Defined stamp set.

Are you inspired to make Valentines yet?

stamps: Simply Said, Valentine Defined
ink: Early Espresso, crumb cake, pretty in pink, rose red
paper: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Rose Red

Sweet Nature Card

I am having so much fun with all the stuff in the Occasions Mini. I decided to play with the Nature Walk set a little more this week. I stamped the bird, birdcage and floral image from the set overlapping in different colors... I love how this looks, sort of has a collage feel. Then I stamped the bee on so saffron card stock and punched him out to add a little dimension. The paper used on the card is a piece of the Botanical Gazette designer paper that coordinates with this stamp set. It's hard to see in this little swatch but it has a beehive pattern on it. I finished off the card with a strip of so saffron punched out with the scallop ribbon border punch. The sentiment "get well soon" is from the set sincere salutations.

stamps:Nature Walk, sincere salutations
ink: Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Not Quite Navy, Early Espresso
paper: whisper white, chocolate chip, Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Botanical Gazette Designer Paper
other: 1 inch circle punch, dimensional, scallop ribbon border punch

One more flamingo card...

Are you sick of those flamingos yet? I just love them!

Here's another card using the Valentine Defined Stamp set with those cute flamingos. I used the melon mambo cardstock on this one again, pairing it with early espresso this time. I stamped the early espresso card stock with the "love you" image with early espresso ink. Then I stamped the lines of hearts with melon mambo ink on pretty in pink cardstock. The flamingos are stamped with pretty in pink ink and melon mambo for the heart on whisper white and punched out with the large oval punch. I then added some ribbon and a scallop trim border. Then I realized I hadn't left much room for a sentiment on the bottom so I went searching through my stamps and found the sentiment that I used from the Always stamp set. It says "always on my mind- forever in my heart" -- perfect for a valentine!

stamps: Valentine defined, Always
ink: Early espresso, melon mambo, pretty in pink
paper: Early Espresso, melon mambo, pretty in pink, whisper white
other: pretty in pink grosgrain ribbon, Scallop Trim Border Punch

Love those flamingos!

Another Valentine using the Valentine Defined Stamp set. This time the color palette I used is a little softer but still using the pink and brown tones like yesterdays card. I started this time with a crumb cake base and stamped some of the heart branches across the bottom with crumb cake ink. Then I stamped the little heart image (I think it looks like a clothesline) on a piece of pretty in pink card stock. The flamingos are again in melon mambo ink on whisper white. Again, I used some seam binding ribbon... I'm ADDICTED to this ribbon.... this time in crumb cake.

And, with my coordinating envelope:

stamps: Valentine Defined
ink: crumb cake, melon mambo, chocolate chip
paper:whisper white, pretty in pink, crumb cake
other: crumb cake seam binding ribbon

Valentine Defined

It's a snowy day here so I thought this card would bring a little color and brightness into your day! I just started playing with this set, Valentine Defined, from the Occasions Mini catalog and I'm having a lot of fun with it. It has a lot of versatile pieces that would make great valentines but also some other types of cards. These flamingos would make a great summer birthday card or anniversary card as well!

For this card I used an interesting color combo-- bright melon mambo and the subdued crumb cake with a bit of chocolate chip. I think the colors, although intense, compliment each other quite nicely.

I made cut the crumb cake cardstock using the top note die in my Big Shot. Then I stamped the heart branches using chocolate chip across the bottom and the "love you" from the same set using chocolate chip and melon mambo ink. I stamped the flamingos on a piece of scrap whisper white paper and punched them out with the 1 3/8" circle and framed them with the scallop circle punched out of chocolate chip. I used some of the Rose red seam binding ribbon across the whole thing and then attached the flamingos with a dimensional.

Here it is with the coordinating envelope:

stamps:Valentine Defined
ink: melon mambo, chocolate chip
paper: melon mambo, chocolate chip, whisper white, crumb cake
other: rose red seam binding ribbon, top note big shot die, scallop circle punch, 1 3/8 circle punch, dimensional dot
