Friendship flower

I did a few Glossy Watercolor flowers a while ago and realized I never posted this one. Here are
the other two I posted here and here. For this card I created the little rose from the Growing Green Stamp set in the glossy watercolor technique and added it on top of a piece of white cardstock stamped with the leafy branches from the same set. I added a tag using the tiny tags set and the jewelry tag punch.
I love the way the colors turned out on this card! I used Crumb cake and early espresso and some paper from the Woodland Walk designer paper pack.

Another Glossy Watercolor Card

Here is another card using the same technique as yesterday. This time I used the flower from the Growing Green Stamp set and a orange inks.

The flower is layered over a piece of crumb cake cut out in the Big Shot with the top note die... I still LOVE this die, I think it's my favorite. I added the "little leaves" sizzlet (another big shot die).

I love how his color combo turned out. It's springy yet neutral. I love the pop of yellow with the neutral crumb cake card stock. It's an unusual color choice but I think it worked out great. What do you think?

Growing Green Slider Box

Another project with the Growing Green set-- A slider box. These little boxes are so fun to make! You simply cut it out using the Matchbox XL big shot die-- it cuts and scores it to make it easy to assemble. Then decorate the top. For this box, I used Garden green Card stock for the bottom and a piece from the Woodland Walk Designer paper for the wrap. The rose is stamped from the Growing Green set and colored it to look water colored using aquapainters. Then I added the sentiment "for you" from the set Great Friend and the finished it off with some 1/8" taffeta ribbon.

Growing Green Watercolors

One of my favorite techniques to to is to watercolor -- I will admit that this does take a bit of practice and when I demo it or have it at class there are always some who hate it or get frustrated with it but if you practice, the cards it makes are definitely worth it!

Here's what I do-- I take a Stampin' Up ink pad and squeeze it so some of the ink gets up on the lid. Then open it up and use an aquapainter to pick up some color. Most important is DON'T squeeze the aquapainter.... if you apply too much pressure your paper will get too wet-- just holding it upright should give you enough flow to get some moisture through the tip. If it still seems too wet, you can scribble it out a bit on some scrap paper. I usually start on the area I want darkest and dab a bit -- then scribble off on some scrap paper to get the color off the brush. Then go back and use the brush with no or very little color on it and drag the spot you just made out the the edges. This creates a dark to light water color look...

Everyone has different techniques so I suggest just practicing to get the look you want. You an also use watercolor pencils to add color instead of ink pads.

Owlie Punch!

When I saw this owl punch in the new catalog I knew I had to add it to my punch collection!
It's so adorable! The punch has all the pieces to make an owl! Here's what it looks like:

I punched it out of crumb cake, chocolate chip, wild wasabi, vanilla and pumpkin pie. If you don't need all the shapes, you can just hold the punch upside down and stick the card stock corner in only as far as you need to punch the section that you need.

For this card, I assembled the owl using mono multi adhesive and then added him to this card. The branch is stamped from the Growing Green stamp set using garden green ink on vanilla paper. I stamped the sentiment "thanks" from the Thank You Kindly set over the top with chocolate chip. I used some pumpkin pie 1/8 inch taffeta ribbon to add some color pop. The "tree" is actually a piece of paper from the Woodland Walk Designer Series Paper. This paper pack has two different woodgrain patterns in it! I love it!

Growing Green Slider

Here is a cool Card made with the Growing Green Stamp set. This was one of my class projects this week. To make this card you cut your cardstock the opposite way you normally would so you end up with a piece of paper that is 4.25 x 11 . Then you fold that in half. Then, fold the front back about an inch to create the flap. Round all the corners and then attach the flap down with brads. Now you have a pocket! Then decorate as you'd like I used the Scalloped Circle Big shot die and the Growing Green stamp set.

Then you can make a slider to go inside. Here's how mine turned out:

These are fun cards to give-- people like the fun format and you can easily write or stamp a message on the sliding part!

Growing Green Card

When I looked at the new Idea Book and Catalog, this set (Growing Green) was immediately one of my favorites! I love how pretty and elegant the outlined flowers are! Here is a really simple card made using it. I started with Crumb Cake Cardstock for the base. The green polka-dotted paper is from the woodland walk designer paper pack which coordinates perfectly with this set. I stamped the flower twice with early espresso ink and once in the middle with crumb cake ink. Then added some rich razzleberry 1/8" taffeta ribbon to add a little pop of color. The sentiment is from the set heard from the heart.

Mini Pizza Box with Rose

Remember this pretty rose? I made one a while ago on a gift bag here. I wanted to use it again in my 3D flowers class so here is what I came up with... it's a little pizza-style box. Check out the old post for directions on how to make the rose.

For the box top and bottom I cut two squares out of Pear Pizzazz paper using the big shot Scallop Square die-- you can cut both at once since this is one of the bigger dies that cuts through thick stuff. Then I used Blushing Bride cardstock to make the box. To decorate it I stamped the leaves from the Growing Green Stamp set on a square of vanilla and then attached my rose with sticky Strip on the top. Here is how the box opens:
