Faux Mother of Pearl

I'm finally getting around to posting the last cards I designed for the June Technique class. I'm having so much fun finding techniques and trying them out! If you live near me I'd love to have you at my next class- just let me know if you'd like to attend.

For June the first technique we did was Faux Mother of Pearl. This is a fun technique that I'd never tried before. I learned about this technique in my monthly magazine that I get from Stampin' Up-- one of the perks of being a demonstrator, you get this cool magazine that is filled with ideas each month!

I used the On the Grow Stamp set -- I've mostly used the scooter from this set in previous cards but I thought the vase of flowers would be perfect for this technique.

It's hard to see in the photo but this shimmers really nicely in person. We stamped the flower image over our Faux mother of pearl technique square but you could punch out a shape instead too… I've seen some cool samples of flowers made from it but haven't had a chance to try it myself yet.

sweet pink scooter

Happy Sunday! I have a sweet pink card to share with you today. For this card I started with and old olive card base. Then I used another piece of cardstock that I had created using the two-tone embossing technique with the Big Shot embossing folder and brayer. I colored the scooter image from the On the Grow stamp set using shades of pink and grey picked up from the lids of ink pads using a blender pen. I framed the scooter image with going grey cardstock and layered it on the card. I added a border to the bottom, also grey, with the scallop trim border punch. The "hello" sentiment is from the hostess set Swirls and Curls Verses. I punched this out with the oval punch and added some bakers twine in white to attach it to the card. I also sponged the edges of the oval with some pink ink.

Simple Scooter

Another quick and easy card to share today! I have been spending a lot of time coloring in the scooter so this time I wanted to make a simple card without it colored! I stamped the scooter on Crumb Cake card stock using pacific point ink! I then stamped the "thinking of you" in old olive and punched it out with the word window. I added this on top of the crumb cake piece to add some color and interest. Then I added some patterned paper behind it (Beyond the Garden) and two flowers punched out using the Triple Layer punch (Blossom Bouquet). Sweet and simple!

On the Grow...

When I saw the scooter in this set I knew I had to have it. It's from the set On the Grow from the Summer mini catalog. I colored it with a blender pen and water color pencils in yellow an orange tones to match this pretty paper, also from the mini, called Beyond the Garden. It ended up having a sort of "retro" color feel but It's also very summery.

I added a punched flower using the new Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch. This punch is definitely one of my favorite things in this mini! You'll be seeing a lot of it soon since I've been playing with it a lot! It punches 3 different styles of flowers from just one punch! I also added on some of the new bakers twine.
