Introducing Newton's Nook Designs!

I had mentioned in my last post some changes were coming - Now I'm posting to reveal them to you! 

This July, my husband Jeff and I will be launching a brand new company, Newton's Nook Designs!  

Named after our big orange kitty, Newton, our company will launch with fresh and fun photopolymer stamps, designed by me! This is so exciting for me and I am thrilled beyond belief to finally share it with you!  Here is our new logo: 

Are you excited to learn more? We will be opening our online shop in July!  Until then you can hop on over to our new blog here and our  Facebook page here  - make sure to like us to be the first to know! Plus, followers will have chances to win free stamps - how awesome is that?

Changes

Hello blog readers - 

I  want to thank all of you for following me - through e-mail  or readers and also those who just click on my blog occasionally.  I'm writing today to update you on some changes that will be taking place in my little corner of the world which will effect this blog --

First of all, I'm no longer going to be a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Although I have immensely enjoyed my time with Stampin' Up and will always love their products I have started down a different path in my life and it's time for me to say goodbye to Stampin Up in order to make some changes.

I can't tell you just quite yet what I'm doing next -- top secret :) But I've been working hard on something big and will be releasing more info in the coming weeks. I can tell you I will still be papercrafting and blogging again once I reveal my new plans!

So please stay tuned -- I hope that all of you will follow me as I continue in this journey!

Retro Sketches Challenge!

I had so much fun making a card with this layout  for my mom (see post here) I thought I would try another one!  I'm finding that having a  sketch to start with is much fun and makes stamping time quick and easy! I love making cards but sometimes you don't have a lot of time so this is definitely the way to go!

This layout is based on sketch challenge #62 from retro sketches. 

Here's the sketch:

Here's what I came up with:

I used the stamp set Summer Silhouettes from Stampin' Up! and a retired sentiment.
I stamped the images and then took some white bakers twine and rubbed over it with a sponge inked in rich razzleberry ink to give it a "purplish" hue!

ink: rich razzleberry, pool party, lucky limeade, early espresso
paper: crumb cake, whisper white
other: bakers twine, sponge

10 minute Mothers Day Card!

I've been following the 10 minute craft dash on the pretty pink posh blog for awhile now and finally had 10 minutes to try one... he he he! 

I needed some mothers day cards to send out... yep that's THIS weekend... so I thought it would be the perfect chance to try the dash!

Here's the challenge - you have to use the colors and make your card in under 10 minutes.  I love the yummy colors - they reminded me of the beach and since my mom loves the beach, I reached for my By the Tide Stamp set. 

I thought this might be hard to do so I combined it with a sketch challenge that looked pretty simple from retro sketches.  I got out all my paper and stamps and then set the timer on my phone.. 

Here's the sketch:

Here's my end time -- just a tad over 8 minutes! Yeah! It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be... kind of fun too. I think it definitely helped to have a sketch to start with... sometimes I take FOREVER to figure out the layout for my cards so the sketch made it easy!!
