One Day until the "Last Chance" List is out!!

Ok... I don't know about you but I'm always excited this time of year to see which stamps are "retiring" and which ones will continue on...and with the new Idea Book and Catalog just around the corner!!

Tomorrow they will release the list of "last chance" stamps and accessories... I will definitely share it with you as soon as I can. Until then here's a fun card to share!

We made this card at my technique class last week! I can't share the nitty gritty details with you unless you attend my classes but basically it's a combination of embossing and brayering called "emerging color" that gives you this cool look! If you are interested in learning stamping techniques I'll be doing another class in June!

Here's close-up:

I used an interesting color combo on this card: Poppy Parade, crumb cake and early espresso. It's not a color combo I'd usually use but I think it really pops!

stamps:ornate blossom, heard from the heart, Friends never fade
ink: poppy parade, crumb cake, early espresso
paper:poppy parade, crumb cake, early espresso, whisper white
other: heat embossing tools, brayer, eyelet border punch, poppy parade poly-stitch ribbon

two-tone embossing!

This is the other technique I showed at my technique class last week. It's a really cool background you can make using the big shot embossing folders to create a two-toned effect. Once I had the background created for this card I stamped the main image on white (using markers to color the center of the flower yellow and the edge of the stamp green) and then trimmed around the image and mounted onto a piece of wild wasabi.

The ribbon effect on this card is easy to create. You just take a piece of the wide grosgrain ribbon and attach it across your card on the back side of the piece you want to cover. Then I took a small piece of the taffeta ribbon and tied it around the grosgrain. It makes a pretty pucker of the thicker ribbon and looks super cool!

stamps: Friends Never Fade
ink:regal rose, daffodil delight, wild wasabi
paper: whisper white, wild wasabi, pink pirouette
big shot: vintage wallpaper embossing folder
other: whisper white taffeta ribbon, daffodil delight striped grosgrain ribbon

Beautiful Rose!

Isn't this rose just gorgeous? This was one of the projects that we made at my 3D Flowers class last Thursday. This one is my favorite... I just love how pretty it looks!

Here is a close-up image:

This rose is made by punching flowers with the XL flower punch and gluing and layering... It takes a little time and you have to be patient while waiting for the glue to dry -- but it's so worth it because it turns out so pretty!

Here's what the little pouch looks like on the inside:

To make the pouch, start with a piece of card stock (mine was early espresso) that is 8" x 3 1/4". Score it on the long side at 3 1/2" and 4 1/2". Then it makes a nice little triangle shape. For the flap I used the Top Note big shot die, folded in half to make a flap. This is by far, my FAVORITE die. I apologize if you're sick of seeing it in my projects but I just love using it!

The gorgeous stamp is from the set Friends Never Fade. I also used the greeting from the hostess set Because I Care on the flap of the pouch along with some of the new poly-stitched ribbon in pear pizazz. I used a little Velcro dot to keep it closed (bought from a local craft store). Inside is a little cello bag filled with Hershey kisses! What a perfect little thank you gift!

stamps:Because I care, Friends Never Fade
ink: Regal Rose, Early Espresso
paper: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Regal Rose
other: Velcro Dot, Small Cello Bag, Pear Pizzazz, XL flower punch, Top Note Big Shot Die

More Friends Never Fade

This stamp set is so much fun! I'm surprised at how many different looking cards you can create from one simple set! For this card I started with Pear Pizzazz card stock (great new in color!) for the base. I stamped the floral image from the Friends Never Fade set with Early Espresso on Crumb Cake Card stock. I don't usually make such a bold pattern; I tend to do more tone-on-tone backgrounds but I love how this looks! To add a little detail, I added a strip of white punched out with the scallop trim border punch.

I colored the main image with markers (concord crush and pear pizzazz in the center) and stamped it on Whisper White. Frame it with some Early Espresso Card stock and add some Vanilla taffeta ribbon and it's done! Easy and pretty!

stamps:Friends Never Fade
ink: Early Espresso, Pear Pizzaz, Concord Crush
paper:Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
other: Scallop Trim Border Punch, 1/8" Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon

Friends Never Fade Thank you

Another fun color combo using the new colors! This card uses the new Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade and Early Espresso for a fun color combo. For the main image, I used markers to ink up the floral stamp from the Friends Never Fade stamp set to give it the multi-colored effect. I think this stamp is really beautiful!

The "thank you" sentiment is from the level one hostess set, Because I Care.
This card was really simple and fun to make!

stamps: Friends Never Fade, Because I Care
ink:Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Early Espresso
paper:Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Early Espresso, whisper White
other:Scallop Trim Border punch, Early Espresso 1/8" Taffeta ribbon

3D Flower and New Colors!

I've been playing a bit with the new colors and I have to say I LOVE THEM! This card uses the new Cherry Cobbler along with Early Espresso and Crumb Cake. It creates such a en elegant color combo, don't you think? The base of the card is Cherry Cobbler. I stamped the patterned piece by using the stamp from the set Friends never Fade in all three colors that I just mentioned. Then I framed it with Crumb Cake Card stock that I had punched along one side with using the Scallop Trim Border Punch.

Love the flower on this card? I'm going to show you how to make it at my 3D flowers class. The class is on July 29th and costs $12 to make 4 projects using 3D flowers just like this one. Let me know if you'd like to attend.

Stamps:Friends Never Fade, With all my Heart
ink: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
paper:Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Whisper White
punches: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Scallop Circle punch, medium oval punch, scallop oval punch
other: brad, 1/8" Early Espresso Taffeta Ribbon

Great Catalog Party!

Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who stopped by my New Catalog Party to drool over the new catalog with me! It was great to see all of you!

If you missed it, here are some highlights:

Everyone received a fun water bottle as a thank-you for coming. I used the new Greenhouse Gala Designer Paper to make the wraps for the bottles and the thank you is from the stamp set With All my Heart. Do you like my bucket? I found the plain white bucket and personalized it using chocolate chip Décor Elements and my Big shot. The letters are from the Billboard die.

Then, to entice everyone to book a party I made this awesome booking cake:

Each piece has chocolate inside (of course) as well as a prize for booking the workshop. To create this cake, I used Crumb Cake and Chocolate Chip card stock for the pieces and then for the flowers, I used the Island Floral Big Shot die. It was a bit of work to make but I love how it tuned out....super fun! This would be great to make for a bridal shower or other type of party...you could change the flowers to roses to make it more elegant.

Here is a top view:

I also had "Survival Kits" for those who picked up their new catalogs:

And, of course, Make-and-takes. Here's the Card we made:

This card uses the new Greenhouse Gala Designer paper again. I love this paper! The card uses two the new colors, Daffodil Delight and Pear Pizzaz along with Pumpkin Pie. The stamp set is also a new one, It's called Friends Never Fade. This set is very versatile and I'll be showing you more cards made with it soon! We also used the new 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in Daffodil Delight. This ribbon is really cool, I love the white edge on it and it comes in 13 colors! I'm going to be doing a sampler with it this month, so let me know if you'd like to participate. Check out the post below for details.

Here's the other Make-and-Take everyone got to make:

This is a simple little Hershey Nugget Wrap. It uses all new colors. The red is the new Poppy Parade. Then the ice cream cone (from the set Sweet Scoops in the Summer Mini) is stamped with Peach Parfait, Blushing Bride, and Poppy Parade. Punch it out with the Large Oval Punch and then tie the whole thing together with some 1/8" very vanilla taffeta ribbon.

Hope you enjoyed my "virtual" open house. If you didn't get to stop by and get your catalog, contact me to get your copy!
