I dig color challenges!

Finally feeling better this week and was able to find time to make this card last night - I had so much fun doing the color challenge I did before I decided to do another one with the play date cafe blog.  The colors were Stone, Buttercream and Denim.... I used Stampin' Up colors -- Not quite Navy, Basic Gray and So Saffron along with the set I dig you.

Here's a close-up -- I also added some bakers twine just because :)

Pretty Petites card

I've been sick with a bad cold this week so haven't had much energy to stamp-- and you know I'm sick when I was home for two days and didn't even touch a stamp! Luckily I found this card that I made last week and haven't had a chance to share yet!

This is a simple design that I think I copied from somewhere….. Pinterest maybe? in a vertical format but I changed it up a bit --made it horizontal and did my sentiments a little different. I added the happy birthday over one of the squares of patterned paper and then the for you underneath in the white space. It's fun to leave some white space on a card - it gives it a nice, modern feel.

stamps: Pretty Petites(SAB)
ink: Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry
paper: Whisper white, Rich Razzleberry, Sycamore Street Designer Paper (SAB)
big shot: fancy fans embossing folder
other:  Petitie curly label punch (SAB), dimensionals, bakers twine.

A color Challenge!

When I said I wanted to do challenges did you think I could do two in one week? I told you I was on a roll - I'm rockin' the stamp room this week at my house!! Today I'm sharing a card I made using the color combo challenge from the Play Date Cafe Blog! I was inspired by this pretty color combo and wanted to try it out. Here's the combo they posted for the challenge:

And here is my card. I didn't have exactly the right colors  - my mint is a little more blue but it's close, I think! I chose to use the stamp set By the Tide to create this card since I thought the  colors had a bit of a beachy feel.

I  love the fancy fan embossing folder used as a background on this - i think it sort of mirrors the look of fish scales! I also added on some bakers twine and a pretty button from the Sale-a-Bration Sycamore Street ribbon and button pack. These buttons are so cute!

stamps: by the Tide, Essentials
ink: pool party, pretty in pink, Marina Mist
paper:  pool party, pretty in pink, Marina Mist, whisper white
big shot: fancy fan embossing folder
other: bakers twine, oval and scallop oval punch, button

Birdie Valentine

One more valentine using the Sweet Heart set from Jane's Doodles. This time I used hearts to make "leaves" on the branch, which I think turned out really cute. I also like how this set has two birds that you can make facing each other - perfect for a valentine sentiment!

stamps: Birds & Branch from Sweet Heart set (Jane's Doodles), Valentine Sentiment from Lots of Love set (avery elle)
ink: early espresso, crumb cake, cherry cobbler
paper: crumb cake, cherry cobbler, whisper white, early espresso
big shot: chevron embossing folder
other: bakers twine

Caged Hearts

When I saw the cage and the hearts in the set from Janes Doodles I had the idea to combine them to make a cage bursting full of hearts for a valentine! I love how this turned out, I stamped the different heart images to appear as if they were filling the cage and overflowing. Then I added some bakers twine on the top of the cage so it would look like it's hanging from something. Isn't it cute?  Then I embossed a piece of pretty in pink card stock with the houndstooth embossing folder to match the houndstooth pattern in the heart!

stamps: Seetheart set (Jane's Doodles), Sentiment Happy Valentines Day from Lots of Love set (Avery Elle),
ink: early espresso, primrose petals, pretty in pink, whisper white
paper: primrose petals, pretty in pink, whisper white
big shot: Houndstooth embossing folder
other: twine, corner rounder

Be Mine!

Another card using the Sweet Heart set from Jane's Doodles. I think the little owls are adorable - I love how you can give them different eyes! I made this card to send out as a valentine so I kept the color palette pinks and browns, with a pop of green on the leaves. to make the leaves, I used the wing from the Bird Builder punch from Stampin' Up!  I also used the chevron embossing folder to create a background since I thought it nicely mirrored the zig zag bellies on the birds!

stamps: owls from Sweet Heart set (Jane's Doodles), Be Mine from Lots of Love set (avery elle)
ink: early espresso, pretty in pink, crumb cake, primrose petals
paper: crumb cake, primrose petals, whisper white, patterned paper scrap (leaves)
big shot: chevron embossing folder
other: bird builder punch, bakers twine

A Sketch Challenge!

One of the things I want to do more of this year is creative challenges - It took me until February to get into my stamping groove but I'm on a roll this week! Somehow I've found lots of time to stamp and I'm having a blast. Today I'm sharing a card I made for the Mojo Monday blog - they post a sketch every week for inspiration and although I've been following the blog for awhile this is the first time I've played along!  Here is the sketch:

And here is my design:

I used the stamp set By the Tide from Stampin' Up to create this card! I wanted to make it a little more masculine so instead of doing a scallop I used the Chevron embossing folder and cut along one edge to give it a fun zig zag edge!  Other than that, I stuck pretty close to the sketch. This was a ton of fun and I hope I have time to do another one soon!!

stamps: By the Tide
ink: early espresso, crumb cake, cherry cobbler
paper: crumb cake, cherry cobbler, Not quite Navy, Baja Breeze, Whisper White
big shot: Chevron embossing folder
other: circle punche, dimensionals, Cherry cobbler seam binding ribbon
