You're the Best Bird

Since it's cold, snowy and blowy again today I thought I'd share a springy card.

I made this card using pieces from my scrap pile. I haven't made anything using brilliant blue card stock in forever but I just love how it turned out! I love the how the bold colors work with this stamp set. The stamp set I used is Spring Solitude, which is a new level 2 hostess set.

For the base of the card, I stamped the outlined flower image with brilliant blue ink. To create the main image, I used old olive and chocolate chip markers to ink and stamp the branches.

The "you're the best" sentiment is from the A little Birdie Told Me set.

embrace life

It's still cold here today but finally warming up a bit. Tomorrow it's actually supposed to be above 30 degrees!!

Here is a card using one of the new Stampin' Up sets, Embrace Life. I liked this set right away when I saw it. I knew it would be fun to watercolor. On this card I wanted to make it sort of springy so I used bright colors for the card base. I colored the flowers using watercolor crayons and a blender pen. I haven't used the watecolor crayons a lot but thought this turned out really well.

A little Birdie told me...

That it's finally Friday! Whew! I don't know about you, but this has been a long week for me. It's been hard to go out in the cold everyday this week. I'm so ready for some warm, sunny days...wishful thinking, I know.

Today I'm showing a card that I'm doing as a make-and-take for my open house on Sunday. I used the set A Little Birdie to make both of the cards in this post. What's fun about these cards is that I used exactly the same materials, cut to the same sizes to make both cards! It's fun to see how you can make two totally different looks using the same materials. Plus, this set is so versatile. It comes with all these fun sentiments so it can be used for tons of different occasions!

I also love the new designer series paper Ginger Blossoms, that I used on both of these samples. The colors are so pretty, perfect for spring or valentines!

Thank You Card

Here is a card using the hostess set Spring Solitude from Stampin' Up. The base is bordering blue card stock. For the strip through the center I used glossy white cardstock and stamped the flowers on it with Night of Navy ink. Then I used sponges to sponge river rock, and bordering blue over the top. The two flowers were stamped on white card stock and cut out and attached with dimensional dots. In the centers I attached pearls from the Stampin' Up Pretties Kit. These go on easily using glue dots. The ribbon is double-stitched grosgrain.

Calendar project

Here is the calendar I mentioned I was working on. I gave it to my grandparents as a late Christmas gift. All materials are from Stamping Up!. I made the pages 6x6 and at the end used my bind-it-all to put it together. It took a lot longer than I thought to make but I was happy with how it turned out.

Thank U card

Hello! I'm almost finished with my calendar so I should have that to show soon.

Meanwhile, here is a thank-you card I made with one of my Favorite sets from Stampin' Up, True Friend. I just love the flowers in this set. They're so fun to stamp!

For the card base I used really rust. The flower is colored with markers from Earth Elements and then stamped on white. It's framed with Wild Wasabi and the retired Apple Cider paper (so sad this paper is gone, I just love it!). I colored the "thank U" stamp with markers, pumpkin pie and chocolate chip, and stamped it on white. I punched it out with the 1 3/8" circle punch and then framed it with the close to cocoa scallop. I used white gel pen to add dots to the scallop. The ribbon is the double-stitched ribbon from SU in river rock.

You can't see it really well in the photo, but I did add a fun little patterned brad in the center from Bo Bunny.

Another winter kitty card

Happy Wednesday! I'm working on a calendar project but it's not quite done yet so here's another Kitty card I made the other day. This set is so adorable no matter what you do with it! The stamp is from C.C. Designs (you can find them here.)

I used all Stampin' Up Card stock for this card. The base is lovely lilac and the layers are bashful blue, lavendar lace, pretty in pink and whisper white. I used my cuttlebug to make the fun snowflake texture and my Marvy Giga punches to make the big circle and scallop. The ribbon is pink and cream taffeta ribbon from Stamin' Up.
